Why rent a scooty in Udaipur
Udaipur is a city of narrow old-city lanes, lakeside roads and hill viewpoints — and it's spread out enough that walking gets tiring by mid-morning. A scooter is the way locals get around, and for a visitor it turns the city into a place you explore rather than commute across. You park at Gangaur Ghat, ride the Fateh Sagar loop at sunset, and climb to Sajjangarh without negotiating an auto fare three times a day.
An Activa is the right scooter for it. Automatic, light enough for the old city, comfortable enough for two on the lakeside road, and it returns about 45 km to the litre so a full day costs less than two auto rides.
What a day on a Drivecomp scooter looks like
Morning: Ride from your stay to the City Palace before the coaches arrive, then loop past Jagdish Temple and down to Gangaur Ghat. Park at the ghat — scooter parking is easy where cars have nowhere to go.
Afternoon: Take Fateh Sagar Road out to Sajjangarh (the Monsoon Palace). It's a 10 km climb with a proper road and the best view of the lakes. Come back via the Sahelion ki Bari gardens.
Evening: Ambrai Ghat for sunset, then Bapu Bazaar or Hathipole for dinner. Ride back whenever you like — the scooter is yours for the full 24 hours.
Going further: Nathdwara (48 km), Kumbhalgarh (85 km) and Ranakpur (90 km) are comfortable Activa day trips on good roads, and we're happy for you to do them — but they're outside Udaipur, so ring us before you leave. There's an out-of-city charge based on the distance, which we quote on the call, and it means we know your route and can get help to you if something goes wrong that far from the hub. Riding past 25 km without telling us is a ₹1,000 + GST penalty plus 2× that day's rent, so it's worth the two-minute call.
Riding in Udaipur — what to know
Traffic in the old city is slow and close, which is exactly why a scooter works: you keep moving where cars stop, and you park where they can't. Helmets are required for both rider and pillion, and Udaipur traffic police do check near Delhi Gate and Chetak Circle. One helmet comes with every booking and a second is ₹50.
Fuel is not included — scooters go out with what's in the tank and come back the same way. An Activa returns roughly 45 km to the litre, so a full day of sightseeing costs about ₹150 in petrol. There are pumps on Fateh Sagar Road, near Udiapole and on the Ahmedabad highway.
Parking is free at most ghats and markets; there's paid parking at the City Palace and Sajjangarh, usually ₹20 for a two-wheeler. Avoid leaving anything in the storage box overnight.

Flying in? We deliver to Maharana Pratap Airport (UDR), Dabok for ₹2,000, and with a same-day boarding pass the code AIRPORTDRIVE brings that to ₹1,500. The airport is 22 km from the city; the scooter is waiting at arrivals and you ride straight in.

How much does a scooty cost to rent in Udaipur?
Drivecomp Activas are ₹450 per weekday and ₹500 per weekend day, or ₹75 an hour with a 4-hour minimum. Weekly bookings get 10% off and monthly 25% off. 18% GST is added at checkout and a helmet is included.
What documents do I need?
A driving licence held for at least 1 year, one government ID (Aadhaar, PAN, voter ID or passport) and a selfie. You upload them once during booking. A standard two-wheeler licence is enough — nothing commercial.
Do you deliver the scooter?
Yes. Anywhere in Udaipur city for ₹500, or to Maharana Pratap Airport (UDR), Dabok for ₹2,000 — ₹1,500 with a same-day boarding pass using code AIRPORTDRIVE. Collection from our Chitrakoot Nagar hub is free.
Is there a security deposit?
Any deposit is shown on the scooter's listing before you book, is paid in cash or UPI at handover, and is returned at drop-off after a quick inspection. Nothing is charged online beyond rent, delivery and GST.
Are your scooters registered for rental?
Yes — every Drivecomp scooter is registered and insured for self-drive rental, and fitted with GPS. Paperwork is in order so you can just ride.
Can I take the scooter outside Udaipur?
Within 25 km of the city, ride wherever you like — it's included. Kumbhalgarh, Ranakpur, Nathdwara and Mount Abu are all allowed too, but call us before you set off: they're outside the city, so an out-of-city charge applies and we quote it by distance in a minute on the phone. Setting off beyond 25 km without telling us carries a ₹1,000 + GST penalty plus 2× that day's rent.
How many kilometres are included?
150 km per day. Extra kilometres are ₹3 each — enough for a full day of lakes, the old city and a run out to Sajjangarh.
